James G. Arbogast, M.D.
Professor, Department Chair
Dr. Arbogast earned his medical degree at WVU in 1976, and completed a residency in family practice at WVU in 1979. He joined the WVU faculty later that year as an instructor of family medicine, and has served as a faculty member at WVU for more than 25 years. After nearly 20 years, he stepped down as residency director in 2005 to assume the role of chair of the department.
His special interests include graduate medical education, information technology, and outreach. He is a three-time recipient of the Department of Family Medicine Award for Excellence in Resident Teaching; the 2002-03 recipient of the WVU School of Medicine Distinguished Teacher Award and the 2003 recipient of the WVU Outstanding Teacher Award.
Robert Carlisle
Assistant Professor
Dr. Carlisle is a native of Kentucky. He trained in Louisville, Lexington, Honolulu, and Chicago before joining the faculty at WVU in 2005. He is active in all areas of clinical learning including outpatient, inpatient, procedural, obstetric, and nursing home settings. He enjoys the fresh air and outdoors of West Virginia.
Vincent DelaGarza , M.D.
Associate Professor
Dr. DeLaGarza came to us after a military career, retiring as a LtCol. He is certified in Geriatric Medicine and Palliative care and has completed a Fellowship in Geriatrics at Johns Hopkins University. He carries a certificate of medical directorship in nursing home medicine as well as being certified in home care. Dr. DeLaGarza has been on the faculty for since 1993 and he splits his time between Family Medicine and nursing homes
